Information

NORTENT Vern 2 3S is a very robust tent with plenty of room for two people, their equipment, and a spacious area for cooking. It is purpose-built for those longer hikes into the wilderness, far from the safety of cabins, where reliable protection against the elements is non-negotiable. By optimizing the construction for three seasons, we have brought the weight down to a remarkable 2.5 kg (without pegs), creating a lighter alternative for the conscious trekker.

A defining feature of the Vern 2 3S is its refined structural design. All three poles are engineered as perfect semicircles, a choice that emphasizes the symmetry and geometry of the tent. This doesn't just create clean, correct lines that blend beautifully with nature, it provides a balanced, aerodynamic profile that remains stable when the wind picks up.

With its streamlined shape and numerous anchoring options, this tent is a true friend that helps you stay safe regardless of the conditions. We believe you should not have to fight the elements, but rather become one with and thrive in them. We have placed great emphasis on making the setup quick and easy; with a little practice, you should be able to pitch the tent in 3-4 minutes, allowing you both to crawl into the sanctuary of a warm sleeping bag.

Solutions

The flysheet, made of our ARCX-N150 high-performance silnylon 66, is of course completely waterproof. To ensure superior weather protection, we utilize an advanced sewing construction. The seams are crafted using a specialized thread that expands when it becomes wet, naturally sealing the stitch holes to keep moisture out. Additionally, we use cooled needles during the manufacturing process to minimize the size of the punctures in the fabric. This precision engineering ensures a highly water-resistant seam without the need for additional treatments.

However, a dense, waterproof tent presents a specific challenge: air circulation. If the air is not circulated, you will experience condensation on the inside walls of the flysheet. Ventilation is therefore absolutely essential to avoid this. To maintain the low weight of 2.5 kg while ensuring a fresh interior climate, the Vern 2 3S is equipped with a highly efficient system of four air valves. Two air valves are located at the bottom at each end of the tent, allowing fresh air to find its way in, while two large upper vent is positioned to let moist air out. These top air valve also functions as an extra overhang, providing crucial protection against rain when you leave the entrance open to maximize airflow.

The Vern 2 3S features two very spacious awnings (vestibules), providing ample room for backpacks, shoes, and other equipment for two people. These awnings are expertly designed to remain functional for cooking for both people even when the weather turns, allowing you to prepare meals safely while sheltered.

Inside, you will find a generous inner tent that accommodates two 198x68 cm sleeping pads. For the 3S version, the inner tent is crafted from our specialized 15D DWR breathable nylon. This high-tech, water repellent fabric protects you from condensation and drafts while maintaining a lightweight profile.

The doors in the inner tent are optimized for 3-season versatility. They feature a hybrid construction of half mosquito netting and half regular nylon. This ensures a constant,  flow of fresh air while keeping insects out, regardless of the temperature. We have also equipped the inner tent with a total of six storage pockets to help you keep your small essentials and gear organized and within reach.

With two main entrances, the Vern 2 3S offers a high flexibility. On calm days, you can open both sides to fully bring "nature" into the tent. On wet and harsh days, the aerodynamic design and protective overhangs allow you to keep the entrances partially open for ventilation while remaining shielded from the wind and rain. Even in windy conditions when you prefer to close the flysheet completely, the vestibules remain spacious enough for all your cooking needs. The Vern 2 3S is designed for a seamless balance between being open to the wild and being perfectly protected from it.

To achieve the lightweight goal of 2.5 kg for the Vern 2 3S, we have developed a lighter, high-performance flysheet fabric. To ensure this weight reduction doesn't compromise the tent's  stability and strength, we have integrated our  reinforcement fabric into all seams.

The high-tenacity, heavy-duty fabric sewn into the seams where the pole clips are attached plays a crucial role in efficiently distributing external forces across a much larger surface area. When strong mountain winds act on the tent, these strategic reinforcements serve as a robust support structure for the lightweight 3-season fabric.

Instead of allowing wind energy to concentrate on a single stress point, the reinforcement helps disperse this force along the entire length of the seam. This distribution of force is particularly significant for a lightweight tent, as it prevents concentrated strain and minimizes the risk of tearing or damage. Essentially, the reinforcement acts as a buffer, absorbing and diffusing the energy generated by external forces before it can stress the flysheet.

In essence, these reinforcements function as a strategic component, working in tandem with the thinner nylon fabric to create a resilient and wind-resistant structure. By distributing the pull and energy from the wind over a wide area, the Vern 2 3S remains durable and reliable in challenging environments, proving that you can have a lightweight 2.5 kg trekker that still offers  strength.

Oh, absolutely! The Vern 2 3S is designed for double poling, a feature made possible by our unique clip system that replaces traditional, restrictive tent sleeves.

Now, we know what you might be thinking: carrying extra poles for a lightweight 2.5 kg tent might seem to defeat the purpose of a 3-season setup. However, the true beauty of this design lies in its  flexibility. On your standard treks, you enjoy the benefits of a light pack. But if you know on beforehand that you are heading into challenging weather, perhaps crossing an exposed mountain plateau with relentless winds, double poling becomes your secret weapon.

By choosing to bring an extra set of poles for that specific adventure, you gain a massive advantage in creating an secure shelter. It’s not just about setting up a tent. It’s about navigating the unpredictable elements. Whether you're contending with autumn gusts or embracing a surprise early-season snowfall, double poling offers a practical solution that allows you to adapt your gear to the journey ahead.

To further ensure that this lightweight shelter can handle the pressure, all exposed areas and high stress points on the outer fabric are reinforced with one of the world’s strongest fiber. We believe it is only appropriate to use the world's toughest materials in our tents, ensuring that the Vern 2 3S remains a reliable shelter in most 3 sesons conditions.

We offer an optional footprint for Vern 2 (475 g). Using a footprint can extend the lifespan of the floor and shield it from potential damage, though it isn't essential for the tent's functionality. The solid 40 D floor on the inner tent is both waterproof and strong. While the tent functions effectively without a footprint, some individuals prefer using one to keep mud away or to cover the vestibule floor. Footprints may play a role in preventing moisture from the ground from condensing on the inner surface of the outer tent. Our available footprints cover the entire underside of the tent, including the vestibules

NORTENT aluminum pegs are made of an aluminum alloy that promotes the proper properties of tent pegs. A tent peg should be strong, endure a lot of stress, but at the same time be somewhat flexible so that it bends instead of breaking straight by too much stress. Our stakes are therefore made of an aluminum alloy in the 7000 series. This is perhaps the market's strongest aluminum alloy, where our alloy has a degree of 7001 aluminum.. This is a degree of aluminum that promotes what we believe are important properties of a tent peg. Strong, but at the same time somewhat flexible. Our featherlite pegs are our lightest and smallest pegs at 8 g, where our stonghold pegs are biggest and heaviest at 24 g.
