Information

Experience the legendary stability of the Vern series in a 1.7 kg package, optimized for 3-season performance.

NORTENT Vern 1 3S is the lightweight evolution of our signature Vern 1. While the original Vern 1 is a fortress for the harshest 4-season conditions, the Vern 1 3S is meticulously engineered for those who move fast and light through the mountains from spring to autumn.

By refining materials and optimizing the construction for three seasons, we have managed to shed a full kilogram, bringing the weight down to a remarkable 1.7 kg. Despite its low weight, it retains the space and aerodynamic silhouette and reliability Nortent is known for. We believe you shouldn't have to choose between a light pack and a safe shelter. With Vern 1 3S, you get both.

The "3S" designation means this tent is purpose-built for spring, summer, and autumn. It features a more breathable inner tent and optimized fabrics that prioritize packability and airflow. Whether you are trekking across high-altitude plateaus or through deep forests, the Vern 1 3S provides a sanctuary that blends seamlessly with nature.

Solutions

The flysheet of the Vern 1 3S is crafted from an ultralight, high-performance silnylon 66 that is, of course, completely waterproof. In a lightweight, 3-season tent, managing air circulation is a primary challenge. To prevent condensation on the inner walls of the flysheet, the Vern 1 3S is equipped with a sophisticated ventilation system featuring three air valves. Two low-positioned vents at each end allow fresh air to enter, while a large upper vent above the entrance ensures moist air is efficiently expelled.

This top valve also acts as a protective overhang, allowing you to keep the entrance open for airflow even during rain. For maximum versatility, all entrances can be adjusted to suit your specific needs and the prevailing weather conditions.

Despite its spacious size and its remarkably low weight of only 1.7 kg , the Vern 1 3S features a surprisingly spacious vestibule (awning). There is ample room for your backpack, boots, and extra gear, while still providing a well-ventilated space for cooking when the weather turns.

Inside, you will find a generous inner tent designed for comfort and practic solutions. It easily accommodates a large 198x68 cm sleeping pad alongside your clothes and personal essentials. We have integrated several storage solutions to help you organize the small items that often seem to vanish during a trip.

The inner tent is specifically optimized for 3-season use, featuring a sophisticated 15D DWR breathable nylon that is also water repellent. This high-tech fabric ensures a comfortable interior climate while protecting you from drafts and moisture. The door is designed with a specialized hybrid construction, half mosquito netting and half regular nylon, providing a good and constant balance between airflow and protection against insects. This setup is meticulously engineered to handle the varying conditions of spring, summer, and autumn without the added weight of extra zippers and fabric layers

The Vern 1 3S is designed for ultimate flexibility. On calm, beautiful days, you can open the entire side of the tent to bring nature inside. On wet and harsh days, you can leave the entrance partially closed to remain sheltered from the wind and rain while still enjoying the view. Even when the entrance is fully zipped shut during heavy storms, the vestibule remains a functional space for food preparation. The Vern 1 3S is built to let you embrace the elements when you want to, and stay perfectly protected when you need to.

To achieve the 1.7 kg total weight of the Vern 1 3S, we utilize a lighter, high performance flysheet fabric. To ensure this weight reduction doesn't compromise the tent's legendary stability, we have integrated the same reinforcement technology as on Vern 1.

The high tenacity, heavy-duty fabric sewn into the seams at the pole clip attachments plays a vital role in distributing external forces across a much larger surface area. When strong mountain winds act on the lightweight fabric, these reinforcements serve as a robust support structure.

Instead of allowing wind energy to concentrate on a single stress point, the reinforcement helps disperse this force along the entire length of the seam. This prevents tearing and minimizes wear on the thinner 3-season material. Essentially, these strategic panels act as a buffer, absorbing and diffusing kinetic energy before it can stress the flysheet.

In essence, these reinforcements work in perfect tandem with the lightweight nylon to create a resilient, wind-resistant structure. By spreading the load over a wide area, the Vern 1 3S remains exceptionally durable and reliable in challenging environments, proving that a lightweight 3-season tent can still offer uncompromising strength

The Vern 1 3S is designed for double poling, a feature made possible by ditching traditional tent sleeves in favor of our efficient clip system.

Now, we know what you might be thinking.... carrying extra poles for an very light 1.7 kg tent might seem to defeat the purpose. And you’re right. On a standard trek, you want to keep that pack as light as possible. However, the true beauty of this design is the flexibility it provides.

Imagine you are planning a trip where you know the weather will be challenging. Perhaps an exposed ridge or a season transition with relentless winds. In these specific scenarios, double poling becomes your secret weapon. By choosing to bring an extra set of poles for that specific adventure, you gain a significant advantage in creating an even more secure shelter.

With the freedom to double up and the elimination of restrictive sleeves, it's not just about setting up a tent;. it's about  navigating the unpredictable elements. Whether you're contending with fierce mountain gusts or a surprise early-autumn snowfall, double poling offers a practical solution that takes your adventures to the next level in terms of adapting to the elements. You carry the 1.7 kg when you can, and you reinforce it when you must.

Accessories

We offer an optional footprint for Vern 1 3S (330 g). Using a footprint can extend the lifespan of the floor and shield it from potential damage, though it isn't essential for the tent's functionality. The  solid 40 D floor on the inner tent is waterprrof with its 5000 mm HH. While the tent functions effectively without a footprint, some individuals prefer using one to keep mud away or to cover the vestibule floor. Footprints may play a role in preventing moisture from the ground from condensing on the inner surface of the outer tent. Our available footprints cover the entire underside of the tent, including the vestibules

NORTENT aluminum pegs are made of an aluminum alloy that promotes the proper properties of tent pegs. A tent peg should be strong, endure a lot of stress, but at the same time be somewhat flexible so that it bends instead of breaking straight by too much stress. Our stakes are therefore made of an aluminum alloy in the 7000 series. This is perhaps the market's strongest aluminum alloy, where our alloy has a degree of 7001 aluminum.. This is a degree of aluminum that promotes what we believe are important properties of a tent peg. Strong, but at the same time somewhat flexible. Our featherlite pegs are our lightest and snallest pegs at 8 g, where our stonghold pegs are biggest and heaviest at 24 g.
