13.09.2023
Silnylon fabric, while durable, may sometimes require repair due to tears, punctures or burnholes. Follow these steps to effectively mend damaged silnylon fabric on your tent:
Materials Needed:
- Silnylon fabric (same type as your tent)
- Clear silicone glue or silicone sealant
- Strong paper towel
- Scissors
- Tape
Step 1: Preparation
- Cut two appropriate pieces of silnylon fabric that match the size of the damaged area. Ensure they are slightly larger than the tear or puncture for adequate coverage.
Step 2: Apply Silicone
- Attach a tape to one side of the damaged area to hold the glue in place during the repair process.
- Use clear silicone glue or silicone sealant. Apply a generous amount to one side of the damaged area.
Step 3: Attach Fabric
- Place one of the cut fabric pieces onto the one side of the damaged area. Press firmly to ensure adhesion.
- Spread the silicone evenly over the fabric. This will help create a strong bond.
Step 4: Remove Tape
- Carefully remove the tape, ensuring the fabric remains securely in place.
Step 5: Repeat on Other Side
- Apply silicone glue or sealant to the other side of the damaged area.
- Attach the second piece of cut fabric, pressing firmly to ensure it sticks properly.
Step 6: Clean Excess Glue
- Use a strong paper towel to wipe off any excess silicone glue around the repaired area. This will help achieve a neat finish.
Step 7: Allow Drying
- Let the repaired area dry for at least 24 hours. This will allow the silicone to cure and merge effectively with the fabric, ensuring a strong and durable repair.
